The information in your computer can destroy your life if it gets in the wrong hands. An on line thief can steal your personality and by the time a collection agency start calling you the damage would be really big. Malicious people can create havoc in your life hacking your facebook account. Something like this can get your fired or get you in legal troubles. The average computer user doesn't think much about it but the threat is very serious. It easy to fall under the false impression that your computer is safe because an anti virus program is running but unfortunately the anti virus programs provide limited protection. Corporate computers that run under Windows with all the updated patches, anti virus and polices enforced by IT departments are easily hacked all the time, the most notorious example of this happen to Google. Google was the victim of a hacker that managed to steal valuable information form one of their computers in China. After this incident Google had a group of security experts reviewing the security policies of Google. Google's team conclusion was that no PC running Windows could be protected from hackers, so Google totally ban any of their computers to run Windows. Is Apple the alternative? Is Mac OS really so much safer than Windows? Apple promotes that Apple's computers are not at the risk of been infected by viruses, worms, trojans, etc. but that is not quite true. It is correct to affirm that a computer running Mac OS is a lot safer than a computer running Windows, however Apple Mac OS is a proprietary operating system and any vulnerability has to wait for Apple to be fixed. Apple is well known for letting vulnerabilities unpatched for months! The other problem with Mac OS is that it only runs -at least legally - in Apple hardware that is overpriced, not to mention that the alternative of changing all the computers for Apple computers is preposterous. Linux is the alternative. It is open source, and because of this many brilliant people act very fast whenever a vulnerability is discover, the patches and upgrades to Linux are amazingly fast. Linux is not difficult to use, in fact it is very user friendly, it offers lots of eye candy, and prevents the regular user from getting in troubles. Most of the Linux 'distros' have all the applications the regular user might need. In the enterprise environment, Linux simplifies the administration, no viruses, no blue screens, no applications acting up, simple back up and better security. Also remember, FREE software, no more licenses to purchase! Switching to Linux is not difficult, try it and if you have any questions or need any help please contact us.
