Why should I contract a professional company to develop my site?: There are many tools freely available that simplify the creation of personal web sites, however, being able to bounce a ball clearly isn't the only prerequisite to playing in the NBA. The development of a professional web site requires the skills of several experts. In order to develop a first class site, it is necessary to retain the services of an experienced company that incorporates the skills of programmers, graphic designers, writers, and SEO specialists.

My company has had a site for a long time but the results are less than satisfactory, what should we do?: It is common for some people to be dissatisfied with the results obtained after investing in the creation of a web site. Unless the site reflects well the product or services offered by the company with relevant content, and meticulous analysis of the target key words, the success of the site will be very limited. What is Web Hosting?: Once a site is done it must be loaded in a Web Server that will allow the clients to see the content at any time. The web hosting service is very important because unreliable web servers create a very negative impression to the customers. OCTOS offers the most reliable web hosting possible.

How much does a web site cost?: There are factors that are going to affect the ultimate cost of your web site. These factors include how many pages you are going to have, if you will sell products on your website, the graphic work involved, and how interactive your future web site will be. You will also need web hosting and domain name registration.

We charge by the job. You will know the exact cost for services up-front before we start. This way there are no expensive surprises for you later on.

What is site maintenance?: It is a fee paid monthly to keep your site updated with new content that you provide. Most good web sites have content updated regularly. Fresh content is what will keep your visitors coming back. This is an optional service that we provide for our customers.

Why can't I find my web site in the search engines?: Once your site has been submitted to the Search Engines they may require several weeks, or even months to index and list your web site in their directory. How fast your site is listed depends on each individual Search Engine's database update schedule.

What is the difference between a "static" and a "dynamic" site?: A static site is one that is written in HTML only. Each page is a separate document and there is no database that it draws on. The only way to edit the site is to go into each page and edit the HTML. You have to do it yourself using a webpage editor or pay us to go in and edit the site each time you want something changed.

A dynamic site is written using more complex code. It has an area where you can log in and change parts of the site, such as adding / editing information or products. Each page is constructed based on the information in a database, and the information in that database can be changed via another interface (intranet / web applications).

They usually cost more to develop, as they require more complex coding and a content management utility needs to be developed to help you manage your website information.

How do I get more traffic from search engines?: Search engine optimization (SEO) is a long-term strategy, and there are no quick-fix solutions in this area. To be effective your site needs to be focused around the right keywords and keyword phrases. Contact us and we will show what we can do for your website.

Can I get e-mail with my website?: Yes, you can have email and you will probably wish you had set-up several email addresses e.g. sale@your-domain.com, info@your-domain.com.

Can I see how many visitors I've had to my website?: Yes, we provide records where your visitors are coming from and which pages they looked at, which search engines are being used, which phrases are being typed into which search engines and many more interesting web tracking facts which you should find useful for future marketing campaigns.

How long does it take for a design to be completed?: The timescale of a project is generally dictated by the client. If you have a deadline in mind we will endeavour to meet it for you. The most common delay in the creation of a site is waiting for content (text/images) to be sent to us by the client.

If I pay for a custom design, will it be used again by Octos in future developments?: No. All web designs are custom.

What is a domain name and why do I need one?: Every Website site must have a domain name. A domain name is your Web site's unique address on the Internet.

How many changes can I request to the design concept?: We offer one revision cycle at no additional charge. We will make as many changes as necessary until it meets your approval after that at our normal hourly rate.

Can I make changes after I approve the design?: Yes, however design changes performed after you have approved the concept will be charged at an hourly rate of US$75.00.
